Large Purchasers of Green Power

Adobe Systems

October 2010 - Adobe Systems, maker of design software, installed a dozen 100-kilowatt fuel cells on the parking garage of its headquarters in San Jose, California. The installation is expected to power 30 percent of Adobe's headquarters facility. In order to decrease the environmental footprint of the fuel cells, Adobe has also contracted to purchase landfill methane as the fuel source for five years. The fuel cells are made by Bloom Energy, and cost between $700,000 and $800,000 before state and federal tax incentives.

Additionally, Adobe has achieved four Platinum certifications under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
