Large Purchasers of Green Power

Alpine Bank

January 2009 - Alpine Bank has committed to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the electricity usage at its 37 locations across western Colorado by purchasing green power from local utility providers and carbon offsets from the Colorado Carbon Fund. Through its green power and offset purchases, the bank expects to reduce CO2 emissions by about 3,397 metric tons annually.

The Alpine Bank Aspen location is also purchasing Canary Tags from the city of Aspen’s carbon offset program to offset 100 percent of the GHG emissions associated with its natural gas usage. Canary Tags cost $20 and represent an offset of one ton of CO2 through renewable energy and carbon mitigation programs.
