September 2009 - Twenty-six companies, organizations and individuals were recognized with national achievement awards at the Renewable Energy Markets 2009 Conference in Atlanta. The Green Power Leadership Awards recognize actions that are significantly advancing the development of renewable electricity sources through renewable energy markets. The awards are presented by the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Center for Resource Solutions.
Among green power purchasers, the highest honors went to the Deutsche Bank AG, Intel Corporation, Kohl’s Department Stores, and Mohawk Fine Papers, Inc., who were named Partners of the Year. 3Degrees and Bonneville Environmental Foundation were named Non-Utility Green Power Suppliers of the Year. Central Vermont Public Service Corporation, Madison Gas and Electric Company, and Puget Sound Energy won for Utility Green Power Programs of the Year. Ed Holt of Ed Holt & Associates, Inc. received the Green Power Pioneer Award.

July 2009 - Mohawk Fine Papers announced a purchase of verified emission reduction (VER) contracts from two projects, including the 2.5-megawatt Greenville County (Enoree) Landfill Gas Utilization Project in Greenville, South Carolina, and another project aimed at reducing emissions at a wastewater treatment facility in Brazil. The purchase brings Mohawk Paper’s total carbon offset purchases to more than 29,000 metric tons.

July 2007 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership released an updated list of the nation's Top 25 green power purchasers. The new list ranks two of Pepsi's three independent bottlers — The Pepsi Bottling Group and PepsiAmericas — at the fourth and 13th positions, respectively, following on the heels of the nation's single largest annual green power purchase announced by PepsiCo in April. The total aggregate purchase of the three independent bottlers is nearly 629 million kWh per year.
Several companies also increased their annual purchases, including Kohl's Department Stores, now ranked eighth on the list with more than 200 million kWh of annual purchases, and Mohawk Fine Papers, which appears on the Top 25 list for the first time.

July 2007 - Mohawk Fine Papers has increased its wind energy purchases to match 100% of its corporate electricity use, representing all of the company's manufacturing, converting and distribution operations in New York and Ohio. The purchase increase to 100 million kWh annually from 60 million kWh follows a May 2007 announcement in which the company began moving toward carbon-neutral production of its premium paper lines.

July 2005 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership released an updated list of its "Top 25" green power purchasers. New to the list are HSBC, with annual renewable energy usage of 68,181 MWh, Mohawk Paper Mills (45,000 MWh), Starbucks (22,500 MWh), and Syracuse University (22,000 MWh). In addition, the U.S. Department of Energy increased its purchases from about 14,000 MWh to 37,000 MWh, representing 100% of the electricity needs of its Forrestal Building headquarters.

May 2005 - Mohawk Paper Mills, the nation's largest manufacturer of premium printing and imaging papers, announced that it has increased its annual purchases of wind energy by more than 350% to run its two mills in upstate New York as well as a newly purchased facility in Ohio. The annual purchase of 45 million kWh makes Mohawk one of the leading U.S. business purchasers of green power according to data compiled by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership. Wind energy now provides 21% of the annual power needs of the New York mills and 50% of the Ohio mill's needs.

February 2005 - OfficeMax Inc., one of the nation's largest providers of office supplies and services, announced that it is offering its North American business customers a 100% post-consumer recycled paper manufactured with wind power and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The paper is also made without the use of chlorine and chlorine compounds.
Mohawk Color Copy 100% Recycled Paper is manufactured by Mohawk Paper Mills, the only U.S. mill using wind energy in its paper-making process. In August 2003, Mohawk Paper Mills entered into a contract with Community Energy, Inc. to purchase four million kWh of wind power annually for its manufacturing facilities. The paper product will be available through contract orders.
