January 2004 - The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) announced that all of the electricity used at its Marine Sciences Laboratory in Sequim, WA is being supplied with green power. When added to pre-existing purchases for its main campus in Richland, WA, PNNL is purchasing 12 million kWh of green power annually, representing 15% of the laboratory's total electricity needs. PNNL is a U.S. Department of Energy research laboratory operated by Battelle. The purchases are being made from the Clallam County Public Utility District and the City of Richland.
