Large Purchasers of Green Power

Fetzer Vineyards

September 1999 - PG&E Energy Services announced that Fetzer Vineyards is now purchasing renewable energy to power the winery's Hopland, California operations. Fetzer has entered into a long-term contract to purchase more than 5 million kWh annually of PG&E Energy Service's Clean Choice 100TM product, which is a Green-e certified, 100% renewable energy product. A portion of the renewable energy will be supplied from new renewable resources.

Fetzer's purchase of green power is the most recent example of its commitment to environmentally responsible farming and wine production. For example, through a number of recycling activities, Fetzer has reduced its waste disposal by 93% since 1990, eliminating 1,580 cubic yards of landfill. And earlier this year, Fetzer installed a 40-kW photovoltaic array on its administration building a system large enough to meet virtually all of the building's summer electricity needs.
