PECO Enrolls 9,000 Customers

PECO Energy, a utility serving about 1.5 million electric customers in southeastern Pennsylvania, announced that it has enrolled more than 9,000 households in its PECO WIND program six months after launch, making it one of the fastest growing programs in the country. Under the program, residential and business customers can purchase wind energy in 100-kWh increments each month for an additional charge of $2.54, or a rate premium of 2.54¢/kWh. The surcharge is added to the participating customer's monthly electricity bill. The product is supplied from a 60-MW wind power facility located in Waymart, Pennsylvania and offered in partnership with Community Energy, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based green power marketer.
