Green Power Awards Issued

November 2003 - On November 4, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) presented awards to leading green power purchasers and suppliers during a ceremony held at the Eighth National Green Power Marketing Conference in Chicago.

The EPA and DOE recognized 19 organizations for leadership in green power purchasing, including four organizations that received Green Power Partner of the Year Awards: the University of Pennsylvania, the City of Portland, Johnson & Johnson, and Dyess Air Force Base. Other award winners included: White Wave; Clif Bar; Tower Companies; Kinko's; Austin Grill; State of New Jersey; City of Moab; BMW; Toyota Motors Sales; Fala Direct Marketing; Domaine Carneros; Hayward Lumber; the City of San Diego, California; and Solano County, California.

In addition, the Center for Resource Solutions recognized the following green power marketers and renewable energy advocates for outstanding leadership and marketing efforts: Green Mountain Energy Company; Austin Energy; Sarah Wright of the Utah Wind Power Campaign; Think Energy; Michael Freeman of Exelon; and Rachel Shimshak of the Renewable Northwest Project.
