Pepco Energy Services (PES), a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc., announced that it will build and operate a 2-MW landfill gas generating facility at the Warrenton, Virginia landfill. The $2 million project will supply green electricity to PES customers in Virginia and surrounding areas. Pending final regulatory approvals, construction of the plant is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2003. PES currently obtains its green power supplies from a combination of small solar projects and renewable energy certificates derived from wind energy and other landfill methane projects.
