PECO Energy Company announced that it will partner with wind energy marketer Community Energy Inc. to offer newly developed wind power to its 1.5 million residential and business customers in the Philadelphia area. Subject to rate approval by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, PECO plans to offer kilowatt-hour blocks of wind power to customers for about 2.5¢/kWh above standard offer rates. The wind energy will be supplied in part from two Pennsylvania wind farms scheduled to be operational later this year—the 15-MW Mill Run project, which is under construction in Fayette County, and the 9-MW Somerset Wind Farm to be built along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, west of Harrisburg.
