Renewable Choice Energy (RCE), a new Boulder, Colorado-based green power marketer, is offering renewable energy certificates for sale to consumers nationwide. The company is offering two products: American Wind, a 100% new wind energy option supplied primarily from Texas-based wind resources, and EcoChoice, a blend of 10% new wind resources and 90% existing renewables. The American Wind product is sold for 2.5¢/kWh and EcoChoice for 1.8¢/kWh.
RCE backs all purchases with tradable renewable energy credits (T-RECs) that verify the source of the energy. Customers are issued renewable energy certificates that document their energy purchase, including all avoided pollution, and do not switch from their current electricity supplier. The company is using grassroots marketing, including direct sales and community events, to promote its products.
