PG&E Breaks Ground in Madison County

April 2000 - PG&E Corporation reports that construction has started on a seven-turbine, 11.5-MW wind project in Madison County, New York. The project is being partially funded with monies from a statewide system benefits charge that was established in June 1998. Through its Pure Wind initiative, the company is offering businesses and companies the opportunity to purchase "certificates" that represent the air emissions avoided with each megawatt-hour of wind-generated power.
