The State of New Jersey reaffirmed its commitment to purchase green power by entering into a contract with Green Mountain Energy Company to purchase a total of 113 million kWh of renewables-based electricity over a 15-month period. Nearly 200 state facilities will receive power from Green Mountain Energy's Enviro Blend product, which is Green-e certified and supplied from renewable resources such as wind, water, biomass and solar generation. The green power purchase will meet 12% of the state governments' total electricity needs.
Under an earlier contract, the state was purchasing a blend of landfill gas and small hydro resources from Conectiv Energy (see previous story below).
