New Jersey Agencies Purchase Wind Power

Pepco Energy Services, Inc. announced that it has teamed with Community Energy, Inc. to supply an aggregation of New Jersey state agencies with Green-e certified wind-generated electricity. Under the 33-month agreement, Pepco Energy Services will supply the agencies with 54.9 million kWh or 20.6 MW of wind energy generated from wind farms in the mid-Atlantic region. More than 90% of the wind power could come from the 20-MW Bear Creek wind farm to be constructed near Wilkes-Barre, PA, less than 60 miles from northern New Jersey. The agencies entered into the agreement in part to meet the 10% environmentally friendly green power purchase goal established by New Jersey Governor James McGreevey.
