PG&E Corporation announced an agreement with Kinko's to provide wind power for up to 50% of the energy used by the company's New York-based retail operations. Kinko's intends to purchase "Pure Wind" certificates representing about 4.5 million kilowatt-hours of annual wind energy generation from a new 11.5-MW wind project currently under construction in Madison, New York. The certificates correspond to equivalent amounts of wind-generated electricity delivered to the New York power pool, and represent emissions avoided over other state power generation facilities.
The New York purchase adds to the growing list of purchase commitments by Kinko's—the company is already purchasing green power for about 90 stores in California, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
