Wisconsin Electric (WE) announced it has reached a settlement with Wisconsin's Environmental Decade (WED) and RENEW Wisconsin (RENEW), two environmental groups that previously challenged WE's Energy for Tomorrow program. As stated in a Memorandum of Understanding, the parties have agreed that by April 1, 2000, at least 75% of the resources marketed under the program will come from new renewable resources located in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan and that no one energy source will account for more than 75% of the program's portfolio. The agreement also stipulates that a major marketing effort be undertaken to engage commercial and industrial customers and that WED and RENEW will actively market and endorse the program.
