El Paso Electric announced that it will contract for the output from two, 660-kW wind turbines to be built in West Texas and offer the energy to its customers as an optional service. The green pricing program, which will allow customers to purchase the wind energy in 100-kWh blocks, is expected to be in place by the end of the year. The proposed wind energy tariff was not announced and is subject to regulatory approval.
