July 2014 - A 294-kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic system, Phase 1 of the Harvard Solar Garden, was recently completed in Harvard, MA. An additional 209 kW of new installed PV capacity is expected to be added later in 2014 (Phase 2 of the project). Solar Design Associates provided design, engineering, and construction management for the Solar Garden. Through membership in the community solar program, customers purchase shares of the project and, through the virtual net metering process, are credited on their monthly utility bill with the amount of electricity their share has generated. The Harvard Solar Garden was interconnected to the local utility at the end of May 2014 and a ribbon cutting ceremony occurred in early June.
