Google has announced the equity investment of roughly $200 million in the 161-megawatt (MW) Spinning Spur Wind Project in west Texas. The wind farm was developed by EDF Renewable Energy (EDF) and is comprised of seventy 2.3-MW turbines. The project became operational at the end of 2012 and EDF remains as the owner/operator. The project's power has been contracted to be sold to Southwestern Public Service Company, an operating company of Xcel Energy primarily serving Texas and New Mexico.
