EPA and CRS Announce 2012 Green Power Leadership Awards

September 2012 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) announced the 2012 Green Power Leadership Awards in conjunction with the Renewable Energy Markets 2012 conference in Washington D.C. The EPA recognizes exceptional achievement among EPA Green Power partners and green power suppliers, and differentiates award categories between green power purchaser and supplier awards.

The EPA handed out a total of twenty-eight Green Power Leadership Awards. On the purchaser side, The City of Austin, TX, Hilton Worldwide, Microsoft Corporation and the University of Oklahoma were named Green Power Partners of the Year, and Beaverton, Oregon and Oak Park, Illinois were named Green Power Communities of the Year. Additionally, Coca Cola Refreshments and Zotos international, Inc. each received awards for on-site generation, and Intel, Staples, Kohl's, and Whole Foods Market all received awards for sustained excellence in green power. On the supplier side, Renewable Choice Energy and Sterling Planet were named Green Power Suppliers of the year, and Wellesley Municipal Light Plant was named Innovative Green Power Program of the.

In addition to the EPA Green Power awards, CRS announced four award recipients: Wisconsin Public Service Community Foundation was named Best Green Power Education Outreach Program; the National Football League was given an award for Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Purchaser and Puget Sound Energy for the Best Marketing Campaign by a Green Power Supplier; and Lisa Jackson of the EPA was given an award for the Green Power Leader of the Year.
