The United States Army has announced a $7 Billion Multiple Award Task Contract Request for Proposal (RFP) to help it procure renewable energy through Power Purchase Agreements for up to 30 years. The RFP budget is not intended to aid in the Army's acquisition of any renewable generation assets. The deadline for responses to the RFP is October 5, 2012 at 2pm CST.
The White House announced in April that the Department of Defense (DOD) was making a large commitment to clean energy, totaling three gigawatts of renewable generation capacity by 2025. The Army, in announcing this latest RFP, will look to acquire one gigawatt of the larger DOD target. The total available budget for the RFP is $7 billion over a 10-year period.
