Fifth Third Bank has purchased 60 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of wind power in 2012, the equivalent of 30 percent of its electrical demand for the year. The purchased wind power will be sourced from the Lost Creek Wind Farm in DeKalb County, Missouri. In recognition of the purchase, the bank has been inducted into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Leadership Club and placed at 26th on the EPA's Fortune 500 Partners List.
Fifth Third Bank purchased the renewable energy certificates (RECs) through Greenlight Energy Group. The available RECs are Green-e Energy certified.
