Edmonds (WA) Launches Community Solar Cooperative

The Edmonds Community Solar Cooperative launched its community solar program with the first-phase 4.2 kilowatt (kW) PV solar panel installation atop the Frances Anderson Center. The second-phase of installation, to be completed in 2012, will raise the total system capacity to 75 kilowatts.

Snohomish County Public Utility District members may purchase 9.5 year memberships in the Edmonds Community Solar Cooperative for $1,000 each. Each membership unit, known as a SunSlice, represents $1,000 of installed solar capacity at the center. SunSlice members will receive an average of $100 per year in incentives and cash rewards, allowing members to recoup investment costs throughout the membership period.
