Allegheny College Purchases 100% Wind

January 2011 - Allegheny College switched its electricity supplier and is now purchasing wind power equivalent to 100 percent of its power use. Constellation Energy will provide electric service and Green-e certified renewable energy certificates at a price competitive with the 15 percent green power product that the college would be purchasing through its previous supplier.

In addition to the commitment to support wind energy, the college plans to install two solar panels. UGI Performance Solutions will install the panels in exchange for energy-audit work performed on the solar panel systems by environmental science students.
