The University of Pennsylvania topped the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2009-2010 College and University Green Power Challenge by purchasing more than 192 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power. The challenge ranks colleges and universities individually and by conference. The Ivy League was the top conference, collectively purchasing over 225 million kWh of green power. The 54 universities competing in the challenge purchased more than 1 billion kWh.
