The University of Michigan has signed an agreement with DTE Energy to purchase renewable energy produced by Michigan-based wind turbines. The agreement is for 9 million kWh of renewable energy certificates (RECs), which is equivalent to 2 percent of the total electricity consumption at its Ann Arbor campus. The university will purchase the RECs through DTE Energy's GreenCurrents voluntary renewable energy program.
