HostGator Purchases Green Power for Servers

February 2010 - HostGator, a web hosting service, announced its purchase of about 5 million kWh of renewable energy sourced from wind farms in Texas. The purchase represents 130% of the electricity used to power and cool HostGator's more than 1,800 shared and reseller servers. HostGator purchased the renewable energy certificates (RECs) through 3Degrees.
