Hospital and Brewery Team to Bring on Biogas Facility

Gundersen Lutheran hospital and medical facilities, announced that it has teamed with a local brewery, City Brewery, to install a cogeneration project that uses methane gas from the brewery waste to generate electricity and uses waste heat to facilitate the brewing process. The combined heat and power project is expected to generate three million kilowatt-hours per year, which is equivalent to about 8 percent of the electricity used at the hospital's La Crosse and Onalaska campuses.
