Lockheed Martin Recognized as a Top Green Power Purchaser

The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership recently recognized Lockheed Martin, a global advanced technology security company, for its purchase of 98 million kilowatt-hours of green power, which represents 5 percent of its estimated electricity usage, making Lockheed Martin the 34th largest green power purchaser in the nation. A portion of the corporation's green power purchase consists of renewable energy certificates (RECs) purchased from 3Degrees Inc. and Sterling Planet, but the company also purchases bundled green energy from utilities serving regions in which its operations are located.

In addition, Lockheed Martin has a goal to reduce energy use by 25 percent by 2012 and was awarded a "Sustainable Communities Champion" award by San Diego Gas & Electric for its new campus at Scripps Ranch in San Diego.
