The Weather Channel Greens Atlanta Broadcast Facility

August 2009 - The Weather Channel’s new Atlanta broadcast facility will purchase renewable energy credits from Renewable Choice Energy equivalent to 35 percent of its electricity use over the next two years. The facility received Gold LEED-New Construction certification for its 12,500 square-foot facility.

The Weather Channel is the only media company to achieve Gold LEED-New Construction certification for a facility that will serve as a live television broadcast studio 24 hours a day, every day of the week. The facility will use heat from studio lights to warm the building, and will also have a weather sensitive irrigation system that stores rainwater to supply the landscape irrigation system.
