The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that it purchased 1.5 million kWh of renewable energy certificates (RECs) for 100% of the expected electricity needs of the NBA All-Star Game and festivities held in February at the US Airways Center and Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona. The NBA worked with Arizona Public Service to purchase the RECs and a portion of the funds will be used to support the development of a new green energy project. The US Airways Center, the home of the Phoenix Suns, is also planning to install solar panels on the center’s parking garage in July.
