With a total of 900 of its 12,500 customers participating in its Capture the Wind program, Minnesota-based Moorhead Public Service now boasts the highest participation rate (7.2%) of any green pricing program in the country. The green customers pay a premium of 0.5¢/kWh to have one-third of their power supplied from wind energy. In October, Moorhead announced plans to expand its program by adding a second wind turbine. Since that time, more than 400 new customers have enrolled in the program. The utility plans to have the new turbine installed and operating by October 2001.
