Esurance Announces Wind Purchase

October 2008 - Esurance, the online consumer auto insurance company, announced that it purchased nearly 4 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of wind power, enough to offset 100% of the electricity used in each of its permanent offices across the United States. The renewable energy certificates (RECs) were purchased from and were sourced from wind farms in Texas. As a result of REC purchase, the company was named to the EPA’s Green Power Leadership Club, a distinction given to organizations that have significantly exceeded the EPA’s minimum purchase requirements under its voluntary Green Power Partnership program.
