The Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a voluntary green power rider option for Kentucky Power Co., a subsidiary of the American Electric Power Co. Inc. Customers will now have an option to purchase renewable energy in 100 kWh blocks at a cost of $2 each, or 2¢/kWh above the standard rate. To supply the program, Kentucky Power will purchase renewable energy certificates (RECs) from within its region through a competitive bidding process.
