SpringBrook Prairie Pavilion Goes Green

The Bond Companies, developer of the Springbrook Prairie Pavilion, a 270,000 square foot commercial shopping development in Naperville, Illinois, announced it has made a multi-year commitment to purchase wind energy for the Pavilion. Under an agreement with Community Energy Inc., the company is purchasing approximately 10 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of wind energy RECs per year, or enough to supply 100% of the Pavilion’s anticipated electricity consumption.

The Pavilion is the first development in DuPage County, Illinois to pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification as recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Through the LEED Certification Program, the USGBC awards four certification levels for new commercial buildings — Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum — based on their environmental impacts and occupant health impacts.
