Citigroup announced that it is purchasing green power for its newest skyscraper in New York and has increased its green power purchases by 55% over 2007 levels. Under an agreement with Constellation NewEnergy, Citigroup has committed to buy 56 million kWh of certified wind energy certificates, which is enough to meet 100% of the energy load for the next five years at Two Court Square in Long Island City, New York. The facility has been awarded Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
