NYU Extends Wind Power Purchase

New York University (NYU) has entered into a new contract to purchase green power equivalent to 100% of its anticipated energy use for the 2008 fiscal year, maintaining its status as the leading university green power purchaser nationally, according to the U.S. EPA Green Power Partnership. Under an agreement with FPL Energy, NYU will purchase 132 million kWh of Green-e certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) sourced from wind energy projects. The purchase is nearly 12% larger than the university's wind power purchase last year.
