LADWP Offers Green Power Certificates

December 2000 - In a new twist to its Green Power for a Green LA program, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is offering green power certificates for sale as a mechanism for customers and non-customers alike to reduce pollution through green power purchases. Because the green power certificates are not tied to a customer's specific electricity use, there is no limit on the number of certificates that can be purchased. The utility envisions that certificates will be purchased as gifts for special occasions or festivities throughout the year. The funds derived from certificate sales will be used to cover the incremental cost of purchasing power generated from newly developed renewable energy resources.
