Baxter International Inc., a global healthcare company, announced that it has purchased 15.5 million kWh of Green-e certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) to match the annual electricity use of its corporate headquarters in Deerfield, Ill. The company is also offsetting its natural gas use by purchasing credits on the Chicago Climate Exchange, of which Baxter is one of the founding members. The RECs are being supplied by Constellation NewEnergy from wind projects located across the country.
