Burbank Water & Power has developed a new green power offering for its residential and business customers. Under the Green Energy Champion program, customers can select from three commitment levels—Bronze, Silver, or Gold—priced at a rate premium of 2¢/kWh. For residential customers, the three commitment levels represent 15%, 37.5%, or 60% of monthly electricity use, respectively. Business customer purchases start at 3% and can be as high as 60%, depending on business size and the commitment level chosen. The renewable energy for the program will be supplied from generation sources either located within the city or delivered directly to city, and will be in addition to renewable energy that the utility already plans to purchase on behalf of all customers.
