The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a challenge to Fortune 500 members of its Green Power Partnership to double their collective total voluntary green power purchases over the next year. Currently, there are more than 40 Fortune 500 corporations participating in the EPA program, representing more than 2.5 billion kWh of annual renewable energy purchases. EPA issued the challenge to help raise awareness of green power options, build demand to stimulate the construction of new green power generation sources nationwide, and provide recognition for participating Fortune 500 companies.
