Wells Fargo & Company, a diversified financial services company with $500 billion in assets, announced that it is purchasing 550 million kWh of wind energy annually, thus becoming the largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy in the United States, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partnership. The purchase will offset 40% of the company's overall electricity use with Green-e certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) supplied by 3 Phases Energy (now serviced by 3Degrees). The three-year purchase agreement began on October 1.
