Pepco Energy Services announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply green power to the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the National Geographic Society. Under the 29-month contract, Pepco Energy Services will supply more than 39 million kWh of Green-e certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) sourced from Sterling Planet utilizing wind energy projects located across the United States. When combined with savings under the Society's existing electric service contract, the cost of the green power will be less than current standard-offer service rates for D.C. electricity customers.
