Minnesota Utilities Offer Solar Program

Three Minnesota municipal utilities—Austin Utilities, Owatonna Public Utilities and Rochester Public Utilities—have launched a program through which customers can support the development of local solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Under the SolarChoice program, residential and business customers can contribute through their monthly electric bill to a fund that will provide annual incentive payments to utility customers with PV systems, with 100% of the revenues going to these "SolarChoice producers." The incentive payment that a producer receives is proportional to the electricity that it generates.
