Roseville Electric, the municipally owned utility of the City of Roseville, California, is offering a new Green-e certified renewable energy option to its residential and business customers. Under the Green Roseville program, customers can choose to meet 100% of their electricity needs with renewable energy at a rate premium of 1.5¢/kWh. The green power is supplied from wind (97.5%) and solar (2.5%) resources generated from newly constructed projects located in California, including solar projects in Roseville.
Customers can also choose to contribute 1¢/kWh to a special fund, the RE New Green Fund, to help underwrite the cost of new solar installations in Roseville. Additionally, a portion of the customer premiums collected for the Green Roseville program will go toward the RE New Green Fund. Roseville Electric is partnering with 3 Phases Energy (now serviced by 3Degrees) to manage renewable energy purchases and marketing for the Green Roseville program, which replaces the utility's RE Green Energy program offered since 2000.
