April 2008 - The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has approved a pilot green pricing program for Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) electric customers. The Green Connect program will begin April 22 (Earth Day) and run through December 31, 2009, at which point DP&L must obtain Commission approval to extend the program. Customers will have the option to purchase renewable energy at a cost of 1¢/kWh above the standard rate, with a minimum purchase of 200 kWh. Customers wishing to participate beyond the minimum level may purchase additional 100-kWh blocks of renewable energy for $1 each. In addition, customers have the option of making a one-time purchase. To supply the program, DP&L will procure renewable energy certificates (RECs) from renewable energy facilities in the region.
