Green Pricing

AEP Ohio

October 2007 - American Electric Power operating unit AEP Ohio announced a new green power option for its nearly 1.5 million electricity customers in Ohio and West Virginia. Under the Green Pricing Option, consumers can purchase renewable energy in 100-kWh increments each month for $0.70, or a premium of 0.7¢/kWh above standard electricity rates. Participating customers must purchase a minimum of 200 kWh and may participate through a one-time purchase, or establish an automatic monthly purchase agreement. To supply the program, AEP Ohio recently acquired more than 50,000 MWh of renewable energy certificates (RECs) from landfill gas generation projects.

AEP Ohio provides electricity service to consumers in Ohio and the northern panhandle of West Virginia through its subsidiaries Columbus Southern Power Company and Ohio Power Company (Ohio), and Wheeling Power Company (West Virginia).
