Intermountain Rural Electric Association

December 2006 - Intermountain Rural Electric Association, an electric distribution cooperative serving 133,000 customers in parts of 10 Colorado counties, announced a voluntary program through which customers can purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) from either wind or solar generation. The wind and solar credits are priced at a 1¢/kWh and 5.5¢/kWh equivalent, respectively. Customers must designate a monthly payment amount starting at $5, which is not tied to electric usage. The RECs are supplied by Sterling Planet from projects located nationwide.
