Concord Municipal Light Plant

December 2003 - Concord Municipal Light Plant (CMLP), which supplies electricity to approximately 7,200 residents and businesses in Concord, MA, unveiled a green power option for its customers. Under the program, residential and business customers can purchase 100-kWh blocks of hydropower for an extra $3 each month, or a premium of 3¢/kWh. Customers can buy an unlimited number of blocks. The average homeowner electricity usage is about 750 kWh per month. Electricity for the program will be supplied from a repowered 160-kW run of the river hydro facility that will generate approximately 500,000 kWh per year.
