September 2012 - Direct Energy of Texas has launched a new renewable energy offering called New Leaf Energy, which offers 100 percent Green-e certified renewable energy generated by Texas wind turbines. New Leaf Energy offers customers the ability to sign up for 6-, 12- or 24-month plans that offer fixed-rate price protections or a variable price option that comes with the ability to switch to a fixed-rate plan at any time. Participation in the new product offering costs roughly $25 per month more than the average Texas household's monthly electricity bill. The average Texas household consumes roughly 14,388 kilowatt-hours of electricity each month.
