August 2001 - AEP Retail Energy has fully subscribed a green power product being offered in Dominion Virginia Power's retail access pilot program. The product, generated from waste wood from Virginia-based timber operations or wood processing plants, was made available on a first-come basis to 1,000 customers at a fixed price of 5.3¢/kWh through December 31, 2001, reflecting a small premium (~0.2¢/kWh) compared to the utility's average price for residential customers of 5.117¢/kWh. The marketer also donated $25 to the Foundation for Environmental Education for each customer that signed up for the product.
